AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Official Palestinian sources said that 78 Palestinian children were killed by Israeli gunfire during the past year.
On the occasion of the Palestinian Child’s Day on Tuesday, a report by the Palestinian central bureau of statistics on the situation of Palestinian children indicated that 78 children were martyred in 2021, 17 children in the West Bank and 61 children in the Gaza Strip.
“160 children are held in the Israeli prisons under poor conditions that violate international law and the rights of the child conventions. Palestinian children in Israeli prisons are deprived of their essential rights including their right to study,” the report stated.
“By the middle of 2022, children under the age of 18 in the Palestinian territories will reach about 2.35 million; Thus, children in Palestine would constitute 43.9 percent of the total population (41.7 percent in the West Bank, and 47.3 percent in the Gaza Strip),” the report estimated.
